The last four years have made the USA feel like a foreign country, to us – our wonderful ex-wwoofing friends have been stuck in an alien land run by a psychopath, egging on the sad and the bad to acts of intimidation and violence, and destroying many of the bonds of friendship and solidarity so necessary in the world of politics and international relationships.
Thank goodness many millions of USA citizens voted for a change; at the very least we can now expect words of strength and decency from the President and Vice-President, and strategies for renewing democracy and health in the USA. and, of course, we also celebrate the first woman of colour as Vice-President- an outstanding choice.
Aotearoa will once again feel – and be – closer to the USA, we believe.
